More than a million people in the US were diagnosed with Covid-19 on Monday.

The United States reported the most cases since the beginning of the Pandemic in two years. The previous record of about 590,000 was set four days ago in the U.S., which was a doubling from the prior week.

America had a daily case count on Monday that was more than twice the number seen in any other country. The highest number outside the U.S. came in India when more than 400,000 people were diagnosed.

Even as Americans rely on tests at home with results that aren't reported to official government authorities, the stratospheric numbers being posted in the U.S. come even as they do. The new record is surely under-estimate.

The infections have led to canceled flights, closed schools and offices, and overwhelmed hospitals.

The data from the university is complete, and it is possible that the rising rates are due to the delays in reporting over the holidays.

The US has set a new global daily record for coronaviruses.

There is an update post.
