After a year of will-they-or-won't-they speculation, SAMSUNG has finally announced the GALAXY S21 FE. The base model of this device has a lower price than the flagship version of the S21, and it features a 120Hz display. It is another addition to a crowded spot in the lineup, with the S21 nearly mid-range price tag and a compelling upper-midrange option in the A52 5G.
The 6.4-inch display of the S21 FE is slightly larger than the S21's 6.2-inch panel. The S21 and the S21 FE have a lot in common. Its screen is 120Hz and has a resolution of1080p. The design language is consistent with the camera bumping into the phone's side rails.

The S21 has a 12-megapixel f/1.8 main camera with optical stabilization, the same as the S21 FE, but it has a flagship-worthy 5nm chip. The S21 has a 4,000mAh cell, but the 4,500mAh cell of the new device does a better job on battery capacity. Fast 25W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, an IP68 weather-resistance rating, and both flavors of 5G are all carried over from the S21.
What does paying more for the S21 get you? The S21 FE has 6GB of RAM, while the base configuration has 8GB. The differences between the screen and battery size are not the main thing. The S21 FE will sell for $769 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, or $869 with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It ships with the OneUI.

I have had the S21 FE for a few days, and it feels like a device that rides the line between a flagship and a mid-range phone. The screen is big and bright with all the smoothness of its 120Hz refresh rate, but the back is plastic with a matt finish, which feels a bit midrange to me. Overall performance feels flagship-worthy, too, with the exception of a little lag in the camera's portrait mode live preview. There is no charger in the box, which is a flagship thing now.

It's good at mixing and matching features for different price points, and a solid support policy makes its budget and midrange phones tough to beat. The S21 FE is a cut into the market that is happily slicing thinner and thinner.
