Georgia hasn't won a national championship in 41 years, and quarterback Stetson Bennett knows that.

Bennett insists that the 3rd-ranked Georgia won't be carrying that burden when they play the 1st-ranked Alabama in the College Football Playoff National Championship. The app is available on the Disney and ESPN websites.

Bennett said that he was just treating it as a football game and that he was not capable of holding that weight on his shoulders. Do I know that means a lot to a lot of people? Yes. Is it possible that I am trying to be a savior by winning a national championship? No. I don't think that's my job.

My job is to throw completions to people on the team that are very talented. I think it's as simple as that.

The SEC championship game will be played in December and will be avenging the loss to the Tide. Georgia lost to Alabama for the seventh time in a row, and also lost to the Tide in overtime in the national championship game.

Kirby Smart said that they have been a problem for any team they have played. We have that in common with a lot of teams they've played. They have a good football team and a good coach. They've done a good job of recruiting good football players.

Bennett was a scout-team quarterback. He was on the sideline at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta when Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa threw a 41-yard touchdown to DeVonta Smith on second-and-26 in overtime to break Georgia's hearts in the national championship game. It was the best chance to end the title drought.

Bennett, a former walk-on, had one of his best performances. He completed 20 of 30 passes for 313 yards and three touchdown in the Capital One Orange Bowl. In the SEC title game, he threw for over 300 yards with three touchdown. He threw a pick-six to Jordan Battle that gave the Tide a 21-point lead early in the fourth quarter.

"You have to play well," Smart said. You have to play well in the red area. You have to play situational football. You can't expect to beat good football teams if you turn the ball over. We have done those things when we played them. We couldn't do that because we turned it over.

30 different teams have won a national championship since 1978, according to research. Georgia has an active drought that is longer than any of them. Since 1980, the team that hasn't won a title has had 16 top 10 finishes in the final AP poll.

Bennett said it means a lot to a lot of people. Is it just another game? I'm not silly. I don't think you can put that kind of pressure on yourself if you're 20 years old. Everybody on the team is preparing my butt off and I'm just treating it as another game. We respect the team of Alabama and that's why we're doing that. We know we have to give it our best shot to win this game.
