EVs made up 65 percent of car sales in Norway last year

It was Engadget.

According to new data from the country's Road Federation, electric vehicles accounted for nearly two-thirds of all new car sales. Sixty five percent of the cars sold by Norwegian dealerships were electric. They accounted for 54 percent of all new car sales in the previous year.
The most popular car among new buyers was the Model 3 from the electric car maker, followed by the hybrid RAV4 from Toyota. The Volkswagen ID.4 is in third place and the Polestar 2 is in the number 10 spot.

The Norwegian EV Association said electric vehicle sales could make up as much as 80% of the country's total car market by 2022, if chip shortages don't cause further delays. The country's generous subsidies are what's driving EV adoption. When buying an EV, car buyers don't have to pay taxes on traditional internal combustion engine vehicles. The federal government missed out on over $3 billion in tax revenue in order to push forward with its plan to end gasoline-powered car sales by the year 2025.
