The TennesseeTitans may soon get some help from running back Derrick Henry.

The coach said that the team discussed Henry being designated for return from injured reserve this week, which would allow him to practice.

"We've talked about it," Vrabel said. We'll see where that goes. Henry is doing some work today and we'll see when the window opens and make a decision later in the week.

Once Henry is designated for return to practice, the team will have a 21-day practice window. Henry was jogging in cleats on the practice field last week. Henry fractured his foot in the first game of the season. He had surgery on his foot. The recovery period for an injury is six to 10 weeks.

Henry's 219 carries for 937 yards and 10 rushing touchdown at the time of his injury led the NFL in each category. Despite missing eight games, Henry is currently sixth in rushing and sixth in rushing touchdown.

D'Onta Foreman has 112 carries for 437 yards and three touchdown in eight games and is the leader of the committee of backs. The top-seeded TennesseeTitans can take home-field advantage with a win over the Houston Texans on Sunday.

There are no plans for the Titans to play Henry in Week 18. If they get the first-round bye, there is a belief within the building that he will be back in time for the playoffs.

MyCole Pruitt, the tight end, will be out for an extended period. The surgery on his ankle is Monday.

He suffered a gruesome ankle injury when he got rolled on in the pile late in the game. For the season, he has 14 catches for 145 yards and three touchdown.

The TennesseeTitans will look at all possibilities to replace Pruitt, including Anthony Firkser and Austin Fort.

Three players from the reserve/COVID-19 list were activated by theTitans, including wide receiver Julio Jones and linebacker Jayon Brown.
