A new smart home security system has been announced.

The home security system from Arlo will be arriving at the Consumer Electronics Show in the year 2022, and the product received a nod as an innovation award winner. The company, known for its top-quality smart security cameras, also announced its support for Matter, a possible indication that a Matter specification for security cameras isn't too far away.
The company that has a full suite of home security cameras has decided to add the do it yourself security monitoring solution. It was natural that it was announced at the show.
The latest Arlo Security System is a complete redesign of the product that never saw the light of day. The new multi-sensors with eight different functions, plus the integration of the hub with the phone, are the signature features. The system will be available in the first half of the 21st century.
The all-in-one sensors can detect motion, door openings and tilt, water leaks, light and temperature changes, and they can also listen for smoke and CO alarms. The multi-sensor is small and lightweight and runs on a battery.

The single multi-sensors are used to monitor your home.

The Arlo Security System has a modular hub that serves as a central controller and has built-in sirens, smoke / CO alarm sensor, and integrated backlit keypad. It has a feature that allows the tap to arm feature.
The Arlo Security System was engineered to address pain points common with other solutions on the market. The system integrates with existing security cameras.
The details on what those integrations will involve were not made available. We don't know the price of the system or if you will need to subscribe to the monthly plan for the cameras that starts at $3 a month. I think there will be a fee to use the system, although it doesn't appear there is a professional monitoring option.
There is no word on smart home integrations, but the system has been open and works with a lot of different things. I was told that more information will be available at launch after I contacted Arlo with my questions.
The multi-sensors are an innovative idea, but similar to the excellent Nest Detect sensors for its now-dead Nest Secure security system, the downside is likely to be cost. The motion and contact sensors used in security systems from competitors such as Ring and SimpliSafe are more expensive than the multi-sensors. An Arlo Security System could cost a lot more quickly.
