Kevin Porter Jr. and Christian Wood will be suspended by the Houston Rockets for Monday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers for poor behavior after Saturday's loss to Denver, according to sources.
Porter and Wood were both sitting out of the game in Philadelphia on Sunday after separate episodes involving the two players, sources said.
Sources said that neither Porter nor Wood played in the second half of the game and that Porter left the arena after a confrontation with an assistant coach.
Porter left the arena instead of rejoining the team for the second half because of his anger management issues, which the team believes he has made progress on.
Sources said that Wood was benched to start Saturday's game and that he was upset about being punished for not showing up for the team's daily COVID testing.
Sources said that Wood didn't check into Saturday's game when he was called upon by Silas.
Sources said that Porter became angry after Lucas challenged him at the half, revisiting an issue that led to the guard losing his composure on the bench during the first half.
Lucas confronted Wood at halftime during a spirited debate. Sources said that one of the team's young players challenged Wood, telling him that as a veteran, he should be setting a standard.
Wood played eight minutes in the first half. Houston was out on the court.
When asked about the decision to not play Wood in the second half, Silas said it was a coach's decision.
Porter was inactive for the beginning of the 2020-21 season due to off-court issues after the Cleveland Cavaliers traded him for a second-round pick.
Porter, the 30th overall pick in the draft, was released by the team after he became upset over the move to an auxiliary area. The locker that was given to Prince was given to Allen as part of the four-team James Harden trade. Porter showed up to the arena for the first game of the season and found his locker had been moved.
Porter was moved from wing to point guard by the Houston Rockets, so they sent him to their G League affiliate. Over the last two seasons, Porter has averaged 15.0 points and 6.1 assists per game. The franchise is still optimistic over Porter's growth and development and believe he's been committed to making improvements asked of him.
