According to reports, the Rajon Rondo trade is a three-team deal.

The Los Angeles Lakers are close to a deal that will send Denzel Valentine to the New York Knicks, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

There is still a chance that he will go to the Cavaliers.

The New York Knicks acquired the rights to Louis Labeyrie and two draft-rights players for a total of $1.1 million. The team will make a decision today on keeping or giving him the chance to sign elsewhere.

The Knicks saved the Lakers $4 million in salary and luxury tax, and gave LA the open roster spot they wanted with the Rajon Rondo deal. Adding Valentine to the deal will tax LA's books.

The Knicks plan to waive Wayne Selden and make room on the roster for Denzel Valentine, according to Insider Tommy Beer.

The Lakers were expected to waive Valentine's partially-guaranteed deal and create an open roster spot after they landed him in the trade for Rajon Rondo.

If New York keeps him, he will be able to play multiple positions. He isn't a player who will take over a game and is only averaging 2.9 points, 1.7 rebound and 0.5 assists a night this season, but he is still far away from the player who averaged 10 points per game for the Chicago Bulls in the last season.

He didn't have a lot of playing time with the Cavaliers, but he might be able to fit in with the Bulls.

Since Ricky Rubio and Collin Sexton are both lost for the season, Cleveland needed the backcourt depth of Rajondra.

The player who was selected to four All-Star and four All-Defensive teams in his prime is not the same player who has two NBA titles on his resume. The post-LeBron James era is about to begin for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

If he can provide a spark off the bench, veteran leadership and some timely passes to the likes of Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen, he can help the Cavaliers reach the playoffs and perhaps challenge some of the Eastern Conference's top teams when they arrive.
