The regular-season thing has been figured out by Matt LaFleur.
Three years with LaFleur as the Green Bay Packers coach, three times they've had a first-round bye in the playoffs.
His team wrapped it up with a game left in the regular season.
The Packers knew that a win at Lambeau Field would make next week's regular-season finale at Detroit meaningless in terms of their playoff position. They had the Arizona Cards who beat the Dallas Cowboys to thank for that.
They took care of themselves with a 37-10 win over the Vikings.
Will they do anything more with the top seed than they have done in the past?
Last season at Lambeau, the Packers lost to the Buccaneers in the playoffs.
They will have to decide how to handle Week 18 against the Lions. They needed the final weekend of the season in the past.
LaFleur faces a dilemma: Should he play the starters in the finale to keep them sharp or give them the weekend off to preserve their health? The Packers will play their first playoff game on either January 22 or January 23.
LaFleur's decision will be influenced by Rodgers' fractured pinkie toe.
The toe didn't bother Rodgers on Sunday night. The temperature was 11 degrees at the start of the game.
In the first half, Rodgers threw for more than 200 yards to Davante Adams. It was Rodgers' highest first-half total since Week 4 of last season and Adams' highest in a first half since Week 4 of 2019.
The Packers' halftime lead should have been bigger but for three failed red zone trips.
They ran the ball well in the first half, thanks in large part to a pair of 27 and 28 yard runs by Jones, his first two 25-plus-yard carries of his career.
Rodgers had two touchdown and no turnovers. It was his sixth game in a row with multiple touchdown and no turnovers, tying Don Meredith for the second-longest streak in NFL history. Adams had 11 catches for 136 yards and a touchdown.
If Rodgers doesn't play in the finale, his season numbers will be: 68.6% completion percentage for 3,977 yards and 35 touchdown with only four picks.
Adams had a franchise single-season reception record. He has 1,498 yards and 11 touchdown.
Sean Mannion was in charge of the Vikings' offense, and it wasn't much of a test for the Packers' defense.
Voters have an extra week to consider LaFleur for Coach of the Year. He didn't win in either of his first two seasons, but a third straight 13 win season might be too hard to ignore. No coach has won more games in their first three seasons.
Rodgers downplayed the 38-3 loss to the New Orleans Saints, saying it was just one game.
Rodgers said that they had 16 to go.
The Packers needed only 15 of them to show they're the best in the conference.
