LaMelo Ball's record was short-lived.

Josh Giddey had a triple-double of 17 points, 14 assists and 13 rebound for Oklahoma City in their 95-86 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday. It wasn't enough to overcome OKC's issues on the offensive end during a low- scoring affair, but it was quite the showing for the rookies.

LaMelo Ball's record as the youngest player in NBA history to finish a game with a triple-double was broken by Giddey.

Giddey was 19 years old in October, while Ball was 19 in August 2020. The Charlotte Hornets guard's first triple-double came as a rookies in a January win over the Atlanta Hawks, but he got a later start because of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Giddey, who was the No. 6 overall pick of the NBA draft, showed he can be a bright spot in a disappointing season.
