Republican Gov. Larry Hogan says it's insane anyone would view the Jan. 6 Capitol riot as 'just tourists looking at statues' in apparent jab at GOP lawmaker

Republican Gov. Larry Hogan criticized Republicans for lying about the Capitol insurrection.
Over the past year, there has been an amazing amount of misinformation spread. Hogan told Dana Bash on CNN on Sunday that many people are consuming that misinformation.
"To think that the violent protesters who attacked the Capitol, our seat of democracy, on January 6 was just tourists looking at statues, it's insane that anyone could watch that on television and believe that's what happened," Hogan said.
Republicans and Trump supporters spent a year talking about the insurrection. The attack resembled a normal tourist visit according to a GOP congressman.

In December, Donald Trump said his speech before the attack was "very calming."
Hogan said on Sunday that he continues to speak up and tell the truth because he thinks it's important. It's crazy that many people believe things that are not true and believe a different version of reality.
The insurrection resulted in the arrest and charges of over 700 people.
