On Meet the Press with Chuck Todd, Meijer said that Trump has maintained a grip on the party despite being condemned by many Republicans.

Todd asked why it wasn't up to Meijer, McConnell, or McCarthy to "kick their Trump habit."
"If you have one party that is falling into the depths and the other party that is rising into the heights, you can use that as an excuse to go further, to go more to an extreme, to go away from any sort of governing consensus, and towards trying to legislate whatever the
McConnell and Graham distanced themselves from Trump after the attack on the Capitol. Graham said "Enough is enough" on the Senate floor.
Graham now says that GOP leaders must have a relationship with the former president to be effective.
Trump has teased at a presidential run but hasn't committed yet. He is going to give a speech from Mar-A-Lago on January 6.
