A woman with a disability was left in Phoenix when she got in a wheelchair on the jetbridge after arriving. The last crewmember off the aircraft pushed her up to the gate and left. Where she was waiting. Employees who saw her there just turned out the lights and left.
There is a shortage of workers. There is a lack of workers with low-paying contractors who push wheelchairs in airports, though low pay is often supplemented by tips that can total far more than wages.
There were other things that happened here. No one at Delta Air Lines seemed to care that a woman was left in a wheelchair. I have heard stories of flight attendants pushing wheelchairs out of compassion for passengers, but here everyone at Delta and in the airport just said to themselves, not my problem.
The passenger was left in the dark in her wheelchair. Her daughter was waiting for her. The woman begged her daughter to come get her from the gate but she couldn't clear security because she didn't have a ticket.
She was helped off the plane and into a wheelchair after landing. James said that she told him to sit and someone would get him.

It's one thing if Delta asks employees to clean Sky Clubs at their Atlanta hub because contractors can't find employees. Vulnerable passengers are left overnight to find themselves.

Oh my goodness. The people who assist passengers in wheelchairs are contract workers, but you bumped the woman from the flight, and no one helped her. Even when she is sitting at the gate for 12 hours.

The woman was able to communicate with her son. She was not left at the airport overnight. Her family was rebooking her travel, even though they weren't aware of her situation. We think the worst customer service stories about airlines are true.
