Carson Wentz passes COVID-19 medical check, to start at QB for Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts quarterback passed his medical check and will start against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Colts activated Wentz from the reserve/COVID-19 list on Saturday. He had one more hurdle to overcome before he was officially cleared to start. According to the new NFL policy, he had to have his symptoms resolved or improved by Sunday morning to play.

A person who is unvaccinated has tested positive for a disease. The CDC's new guidelines allow players to return from the COVID-19 list after just five days if they are free of symptoms, but the NFL and NFLPA adjusted their protocols this week.

In his first season with the Colts, in which he was acquired in an off-season trade with the Philadelphia Eagles, he has thrown for 3,230 yards with 25 touchdown and six interceptions.

The Colts can make the playoffs with a victory over the Raiders. Indianapolis is in the running for a playoff spot.
