According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Chicago Bears are likely to fire head coach Matt Nagy at the end of the 2021 season.

The search for Nagy's successor is expected to begin after Week 18.

The Bears are one of three teams that have had internal discussions about their head coaching situations and are preparing to conduct a search at the end of the season, according to CBS Sports.

The Bears have never fired a coach during the regular season, but they still plan to make a change after the season.

Nagy said he is working on the assumption that he will coach the final two games of the season.

The Chicago Bears will play the New York Giants on Sunday before playing the Minnesota Vikings the following day. The 5-10 team has already been eliminated from the playoffs, so there is little chance of changing the organization's mindset.

This will be the first season with a losing record for Nagy, who has a 33-30 overall mark with the Bears. He won the Coach of the Year award in the NFL after leading the team to a 12-4 record.

The excitement waned after back-to-back 8-8 seasons, while offensive question marks continued despite several quarterback changes.

In his first season after being selected 11th overall, Justin Fields has been inconsistent.
The Bears need a fresh start in order to get back into contention.
