Pete Carroll-Russell Wilson duo set for possible finale with Seattle Seahawks, sources say

Sources tell me that Pete and Russell Wilson may not work together again at Lumen Field.

According to sources, the end of one of the most successful head coach-quarterback duos in NFL history is in the air.

Entering Sunday's game against the Lions, the coach-quarterback duo of Pete and Wilson have won 61 home games, which is one more than any other coach-quarterback duo since Wilson's first season.

This season is the worst in over a decade for the Seahawks organization. Multiple sources expect the same level of speculation this year as last, when there was constant speculation that Wilson could be traded.

Wilson acknowledged his uncertain future when he was asked about the game against the Lions.

He told reporters that he hopes it's not his last game in Seattle. I know it won't be my last game in the league.

Wilson has said several times that his first goal is to remain in Seattle, but only if the Seahawks want to win.

Wilson is 27th on the all-time list for passing yards with 36,585 over his first 10 seasons. Wilson said this past week that he wants to win three more Super Bowls, despite all those accomplishments, and there are some who think his next 10 years could be just as productive.

Jody Allen, who has been the team's defacto owner since her brother died, will be the one who makes the decisions on the future of both Wilson and Carroll.

Allen's plans are not clear, but he and general manager John Schneider have the same direction of the franchise, according to Carroll.

Wilson had a no-trade clause in his contract but was open to a deal to four teams last year.

Schneider knows the value of a quarterback like Wilson, so he is open to starting again with more picks.

For the first time in four years, the Seahawks will finish with a losing record, and they will have recorded double-digit losses for the first time since 2009.

Wilson missed three games in October because of a finger injury but has been productive this season, completing 65% of his passes for 2,639 yards and 18 touchdown with just five picks.

He said this past Thursday that he wants to win three more Super Bowls. How do we get there? How do we do that?

Wilson was asked if he believes he can achieve that goal in Seattle, given the direction of the franchise.

He said he hoped so. We have to be in the playoffs right now. It takes a lot of effort, it takes a lot of things, it takes a lot of pieces, and I think that we have a lot of them. It's been a difficult season.
