DeMar DeRozan's second game-winning buzzer-beater in as many days ignites social media

DeMar DeRozan hit a game-winning 3-pointer from the corner as the Bulls won 120-119. (0:54)

11:30 PM.

Someone might have called for an encore.

Chicago Bulls star DeMar DeRozan knows how to end and begin a year. He was the only player in NBA history to hit a game-winning buzzer-beater on consecutive days.

His 3-pointer in the Bulls' victory over the Pacers was the start of his two-game stretch.

It was the first game-winning buzzer-beater by a Bulls player since December 2016 and the second game-winning buzzer-beater by DeRozan.

After the game, Pacers All-Star Domantas Sabonis succinctly summarized the play, which was later dubbed the "New Year's Heave" on social media.

The Pacers' star said that sometimes the shot goes in and sometimes it doesn't.

On the other side, he gave insight on how he views late-game moments.

I try to take advantage of the next opportunity.

He didn't know that his next chance would be against the Wizards less than 24 hours later.

The Bulls' win streak was extended to seven games by a corner 3-pointer by DeRozan at the buzzer.

He's tied the teams single-season record for buzzer-beaters with Michael Jordan and Toni Kukoc. The only Bulls player with multiple regular-season buzzer-beaters is DeRozan.

His teammates continued to praise him on social media.

CROWN him.
