The first edition of the "Day 1" pay-per-view will be held on New Year's Day in 2022. Ahead of the Royal Rumble later this month, the road to WrestleMania 38 gets an early start.
Roman Reigns was going to defend his Universal title against Brock Lesnar in a match that was months in the making. Just hours before the show, Reigns announced that he had tested positive and was off the show.
The four-way title match featuring Big E, Bobby Lashley, Kevin Owens andSeth Rollins was added to the schedule.
On Saturday's Day 1 event, Liv Morgan will face off againstBecky Lynch for the Raw women's championship. The Usos and The New Day are in a feud with each other, while Randy Orton and Matt Riddle are defending the Raw tag team titles against The Street Profits. Drew McIntyre faces Madcap Moss in nontitle action.

Edge won. The person is The Miz.
The longer a rivalry goes on, the more likely it is that both partners will get involved. It was only fitting that Edge's wife and fellow WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix would enter the equation after The Miz and Maryse got the upper hand against Edge.
The Edgecution from the apron to the floor and the Skull Crushing Finale on the commentary table were the high points of the show. The big moments are what will be remembered even though the match dragged on at times.

Everything led to the end. The ref was distracted by the Miz faking a knee injury. Maryse hit Edge in the face with her purse after Edge went into the ring post. It was only worth a two-count because it fed into a skull crushing finale by The Miz.
Maryse got up on the apron to complain, and that's when Phoenix walked out. She chased Maryse up the ramp. Edge lined up a spear and got the win.
A mixed tag team match is obvious. It could happen quickly at the Royal Rumble, or it could be put on the back burner and wait for Wrestlemania. I would lean towards it sooner than later.
RK-Bro (c) won the raw tag team championship. The street makes money.
It was thought that Randy and Matt would retain their Raw tag team titles against The Street Profits. The match overdelivered for the second time in as many tag team title matches at Day 1 as both teams showed up ready to go.
Montez Ford shined early with a series of reversals and moonsaults, as he and Angelo Dawkins beat up Riddle for an extended stretch. When he got a hot tag, he cleaned house and nailed a double hangman's DDT with Ford and Dawkins draped over the middle rope.
The Street Profits began their comeback after the first attempt at an RKO to Ford was reversed. Ford got the upper hand when he sent Orton into the ring post, and then did a flip over the same post onto the other two.
They slowly scrambled back after Orton won the race back into the ring. With help from Riddle, who popped Ford into the air, Orton hit an RKO for the victory.

In the world of wrestling, the time for the implosion of Riddle and Orton is running out, as the bond between them seems to be getting stronger. The Street Profits was a strong showing in a big event, but it feels like something needs to be changed outside of a title challenge. Maybe a villainous turn is in order.
Drew McIntyre won. Madcap Moss.

Drew McIntyre defeated Madcap Moss on the first day of the card. McIntyre took care of business against Moss, a wrestler who spent his early days in the company vying for the title and has gone through several different character changes along the way.
It was not as easy as it appeared on paper. Moss had a lot of control. He was able to stop McIntyre's first attempt at a Claymore kick.
McIntyre emerged with a clear pinfall win, but if there's any indication of McIntyre falling out of the top tier of WWE title contender, it's how long this match lasted against Moss.
McIntyre and Moss were attacked in the locker room after the match, so this feud is far from over. After Happy Corbin volunteered Moss for this match, he will try to do the work himself in the weeks to come.
The Usos won the SmackDown tag team championship. The new day.
The Usos and The New Day have a long history. Their rivalry has entered the annals of WWE history because of it.
The group of King Woods, Kofi Kingston, Jey Uso, and Jimmy Uso have an incredible chemistry and are great storytellers. Superkicks and splashes from The Usos, and signature moves from Kingston and Woods were familiar spots throughout the match. The Usos paid tribute to Roman Reigns, who was pulled from Saturday's card at the last minute due to a positive test.
The match was won two or three times. Woods interrupted a pinfall at the absolute last second after a double superkick and double top rope splash from The Usos. A double stomp from New Day to Jey Uso only got a two count.
It took a different approach to take New Day out. Jimmy and Jey hit their version of the Dudley Boyz's 3D to Kingston to seal the match.
Sir TrueKofi was thinking about Trouble InParadise, but it turned into serious trouble for The NewDay thanks to The Wrestlers.

The Usos might not be done for the night despite the absence of Roman Reigns, as their conflict with Brock Lesnar is far from over. The next step for Kingston and Woods is not clear. The next few weeks are still to be seen, but a Royal Rumble appearance seems likely for both.
Ridge Holland and Sheamus defeated each other. Cesaro and Ricochet.
Ricochet landed on Holland's nose after a double-team flip maneuver by Cesaro and Cesaro ended the match. Holland bled profusely from his nose, was tagged out, and was escorted to the back of the ring, where he fought for more than 10 minutes. After Cesaro missed a splash in the corner, Sheamus connected on a brogue kick to his face and secured the pinfall victory.
They are bitter rivals, and they are looking to make a statement against one another.

He will be able to brag about his clean solo victory for the next few weeks. There is a chance of one-on-one matches with both men in the lead up to the Royal Rumble. Hopefully Holland's injury isn't too bad.
