Pokémon Legends: Arceus' First Promo Teases New Lands to See

The information provided by GameFreak and Nintendo has mostly focused on the mechanics of the game, but a promo released in Japan focuses on the player exploring Hisui. The promo for the game leans into it as the player uses their Pokémon to travel through water, gallop down hills, and even fly past a volcano, and it was easy to joke about. It is hard to not be impressed by the visual direction and how large the world feels.

There is an open desire among fans for Pokémon to change things up in the main games, and what we know of Arceus thus far seems to address at least some of those complaints. The game takes a page from Monster Hunter and gives players a central base in the form of Jubilife Village. They will return to Jubilife after they explore one of Hisui's open areas after completing an assignment. If you are not careful, Pokémon can kill you. While it is unlikely that Nintendo will ever give their own version of fans' custom made Nuzlocke challenges, the extra tension that Arceus seemingly provides has some potential to push back on players looking for a challenge, or who may forget these creatures they're trying to snatch

What Arceus brings to the table will be interesting for fans to chew on, whether or not it serves as an update or evolution to the formula. It will be a good way to spend the winter if you are not at home.

On January 28, the Nintendo Switch will be home to the new game, Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

There was a correction on January 1, 2022. The game had more of an open world, action-RPG structure. It has been changed to reflect Nintendo statements about how the game will play.
