Roman Reigns, WWE's biggest star, tests positive for COVID-19, scratched from Atlanta event

The organization announced that Roman Reigns was scratched from Saturday's "Day 1" pay-per-view in Atlanta after he tested positive for COVID-19.

The cousin of The Rock was going to defend his title against Brock Lesnar in a headline attraction.

The bout will have to wait until later in 2022, after a long build-up that featured manager Paul Heyman at the center of the storyline.

I want to defend my Universal Championship tonight. I tested positive for COVID-19 earlier today. I am unable to compete due to the proper protocols. I will return to action as soon as possible.

The disease returned in the year 2018, but before it did so Reigns was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia in 2007. He said in February that his cancer was out of sight. A WWE spokesman didn't say if or not Reigns is symptomatic with COVID-19.

The original Fatal 4-Way match was changed to the WWE Championship match when Roman Reigns was injured. Big E will face several wrestlers, including Kevin Owens and Bobby Lashley.

It will be the first time that Lashley and Lesnar will fight in the ring.
