The Indianapolis Colts activated quarterback Carson Wentz from the reserve/COVID-19 list on Saturday, clearing him to start against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
A person who is unvaccinated has tested positive for a disease. The CDC's new guidelines allow players to return from the COVID-19 list after just five days if they are free of symptoms, but the NFL and NFLPA adjusted their protocols this week.
If he tested positive on Monday, he would have to be out of action for five days, so the Colts had to get him activated on Saturday.
In his first season with the Colts, in which he was acquired in an off-season trade with the Philadelphia Eagles, he has thrown for 3,230 yards with 25 touchdown and six interceptions.
The Colts activated offensive tackle and T.J. Carrie from the list.
The Colts can make the playoffs with a victory over the Raiders.
