Let's go back to the second quarter against Michigan on Friday night, when Georgia was already up 20-3.

Bennett took the snap and hit Burton in stride for a 57-yard touchdown pass to give the Broncos a 27-13 halftime lead. It was the sixth touchdown pass of 50 or more yards for a guy who is constantly criticized for not having a strong enough arm, the most in a season at Georgia since 2012

Bennett did a happy-go-lucky dance after Burton scored, moving his arms side to side as he ran off the field, before jumping up in celebration with Robinson, who was wearing a mask.

Bennett says he doesn't hear the outside noise, but it's hard not to wonder if it inspired his performance in Georgia's 34-11 win over Michigan in the Capital One Orange Bowl.

It felt as if he and his teammates heard every single one of the people who questioned Georgia's ability to win a national championship with a former walk-on in the starting lineup.

Bennett said that he didn't play well in spite of people. I came out there and played well and worked hard for the team because they needed me to do that and we needed to do that to win. My goal every week is to play that well.

Bennett was named offensive most valuable player for his performance of 20 of 30 for 313 yards and three touchdown. Bennett was 16-of-22 for 234 yards with two touchdown passes in the first half. That is the second most in a half of his career.

Bennett silenced critics of his performance in the SEC title game by throwing for 313 yards and three touchdown in the CFP semifinal against Michigan. He was named the game's offensive Most Valuable Player.

He started the game with nine straight completions, and it was clear that there was more to come. Bennett handled pressure well and delivered passes with ease. He ran when he had to, trying to keep drives alive.

Kirby Smart said that he has been focused the last couple weeks. It's amazing to have a guy his age who is focused and block out all the noise. Every time he hears noise, he focuses on the game plan and what he has to do to execute. They couldn't account for his mobility when he made plays with his feet.

Will his performance Friday night be enough to answer the doubters who seem to follow Bennett no matter what he does?

Bennett told reporters in Miami that he doesn't have time to think about the haters.

Bennett said earlier in the week that he wouldn't listen to himself if he gave a speech about heart surgery. Why would I listen to someone who doesn't do this for a living? It doesn't bother me.

James Cook hauled in four passes and scored a 39-yard touchdown.

Running back James Cook said in his postgame comments, "Like said, he ain't got no social media, he carries a flip phone around, and he lets the noise go over his head." That's what I like about him. I tell him to stay in there, not make bad decisions, use his feet, and do the little things that will help him out of situations that he can't fix.

The game plan against Michigan felt like one big take that, even if it was not intentional.

Todd Monken was in Miami answering questions about why Georgia continues to start Bennett. After he said he thought Bennett was good enough to win a title, doubters wondered why he wasn't good enough to start the season.

Monken said that Bennett took advantage of his opportunity after Daniels was hurt. Bennett helps Georgia get to 12-0 and he dominates Michigan in the semifinals of the CFP.

Now that we are talking about the actual national championship game, are those answers good enough to satisfy the many questions about Bennett that have arisen in the lead-up to the playoffs?

The questions will come up once again when the Georgia offense faces Alabama in the SEC championship game, the team that flustered Bennett and the Georgia offense in the SEC championship game. Georgia had more points in the first half against Michigan than against the Tide.

Bennett handled the pressure well against Michigan. He went 4-of-7 for 138 yards, two touchdown and no turnovers when he faced pressure. Bennett was sacked three times in the SEC title game against Alabama and was 5-of-15 for 60 yards.

The Dawgs fell behind by double digits in the SEC title game. Bennett has to pass against a strong Alabama defense.

Bennett threw 57 second-half passes in two seasons as a part-time starter. He completed 28 of them for 313 yards and two touchdown. Georgia scored on two of its first three drives, then on two of its last nine, with two turnovers and two interceptions.

Bennett has a story that every college football fan should embrace. Bennett only got a scholarship to play for Georgia because of his small stature. He left Georgia for junior college and came back in 2019.
