Hyundai built an air purifier out of recycled Ioniq 5 EV parts

Many pre-production vehicles that never see the light of day are the result of a long development process. Rather than scrapping one of its Ioniq 5 test vehicles entirely,Hyundai made an air purifier out of the car's parts.

The model went through a lot of tests to make sure they were safe. The vehicle was used to test a number of noise-related technologies over the course of a year, according to the video.

The video shows the engineers stripping the Ioniq 5 of its bones and designing a completely different product. They used the cooling fan, door panels, LED tail lamp, and the filter unit. The engineers put a wheel on the top of the case, and the car's emblem adds some professional branding.

Many car parts are already recycled, so this is a neat experiment. There are other sustainable ways to reuse a car that is outlived its usefulness. The Ioniq 5 was delivered in the US this month.
