Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files reported that the Indiana Pacers will sign veteran guard Lance Stephenson to a 10-day contract.
The Pacers have five players in the NBA's health and safety protocols, including guards Malcolm Brogdon, Chris Duarte, Jeremy Lamb and Kelan Martin.
In five games for the Atlanta Hawks, he averaged 1.8 points and 2.8 rebound per game.
The Pacers will be the third stint for the 31-year-old, who began his career with the team from 2010 to 14.
The second-round draft pick averaged 13.8 and 7.2 rebound per game in his best season to date, helping the Pacers reach the Eastern Conference Finals. He had some battles with James in the playoffs.
After nine seasons in the NBA, Lance Stephenson was out of the league for two years while playing for the Flying Leopards in China. He began his career in the NBA G League with the Grand Rapids Gold.
He can help the Pacers with their short-handed squad.
Indiana has lost its last three games to fall to 14-22, which is the third worst record in the Eastern Conference. The team hopes that the addition of Stephenson will give them an energy boost.
