Biden to speak with Ukraine President Zelenskyy, says he ‘made it clear’ to Putin that Russia cannot invade



The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, spoke with the President of the United States, Joe Biden, in December of 2021.

A White House official said Friday that President Joe Biden will speak with the president of Ukraine on Sunday to express support for the country.

The official said that Biden would review plans for diplomatic moves to help de-escalate the situation in the region.

Biden told reporters in Delaware that he wouldn't negotiate in public. We made it clear that he couldn't invade Ukraine.

Security talks between the US and Russia will be held on January 10.

On Thursday, Biden called Putin and urged him to lower the tensions. The White House press secretary said that the U.S. was prepared to respond if Russia invaded Ukraine.

Biden said that he made it clear to Putin that the US would have severe sanctions.

Biden said that he believed that Putin would agree to three major conferences in Europe next month.

Biden expects to negotiate and make progress.

A Kremlin aide said after the phone call with Biden that Putin outlined the basic principles of Russia's security proposals and emphasized that we will seek to ensure Russia's security.
