The FAA said on Friday that Americans may see more flight delays this weekend as the agency faces staffing shortages due to Covid-19, a similar situation airlines are facing.

The FAA said in a statement to Forbes that it may have to reduce traffic volume at some facilities in order to maintain safety, as more of its employees have tested positive for Covid-19.

The agency said that weather and high traveling volume will cause travel delays over the next few days.

Over 1,300 flights departing from, arriving to and within the United States have been canceled on Friday.
