Florida Democrats Accuse DeSantis Of Disappearing — Here's What We Know

State Democrats and critics on social media have accused the governor of "disappearing" amid the state's record-breaking Covid-19 surge, an allegation driven by his absence from public events since December.

The governor posted a photo on December 30 of his visit to Bagelicious Deli in Ocala, but the restaurant's Facebook page posted the image on December 17.

The Democratic candidate for governor of Florida said that she has not seen the governor since December 17 and that he has canceled multiple meetings with state officials.

Christina Pushaw, the press secretary for the governor, responded to the criticism by posting a picture of the public schedule.

Pushaw said that December 30 and 31 are holidays for state employees, and that DeSantis is spending time with his family.

The communications office did not reply to Forbes.

The White House has made recommendations for Covid-19 prevention. Private employers, government entities and educational institutions are not allowed to mandating Covid-19 vaccines. In July, the school boards were banned from implementing mask mandates.
