10 movies we can't wait to see in 2022

We are headed into another uncertain year on Earth. You can always count on movies if you are trapped in your house and unable to leave for a long period of time.

There will be a lot of exciting titles in theaters and on streaming platforms in the years to come. More than a few projects were delayed by the Pandemic, but they are all planning to reach audiences next year.

It's difficult to predict which films will win our hearts. We were able to turn that excitement into a selection of films. Just to help you plan.

Here are 10 movies to look forward to.

1. There is a scream on January 14.

The beloved Scream franchise is coming back in 2022. The fifth film in the scary-yet-spoofy slasher saga, confusingly titled just Scream, is set to get the Halloween treatment next year with the return of series icons Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, David Arquette as Sheriff Dewey Riley, and Courteney Cox as Gale Riley
A new crop of horror movie-loving victims flee from a new Ghostface in this Woodsboro hometown. That is well-trod territory. The trailer looks as dark as the series has ever been and then some, but as Dewey says in the trailer, "something about this one just feels different." Jack Quaid, Dylan Minnette, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and more also star.

The movie is in theaters on January 14.

2. Jackass is back in February.

For those who remember the first time that Jackass hit MTV, it's hard to believe it's been 20 years. When they jumped to the big screen in 2002, Johnny Knoxville and his fellow jackasses were doing foolish stunts that only got bigger. Most of the cast is back, along with the director, for one final rodeo. There's a segment about a bull.
There are a lot of franchises with handsome leading men getting a flashy revival in the future. There is a special kind of showmanship that you just need a jackass for. The big-handed slaps in the face and the burst from a cannon barrel are some of the wild antics teased in the trailer. It's great to see our old friends again.

Don't worry, buddies. Steve-O assures that concussions aren't great. It's cool if you have them before you're 50. And Knoxville's 49. Kristy Puchko is the deputy entertainment editor.

Jackass is in theaters on February 4.

3. The moonfall is on February 4.

The Day After Tomorrow, White House Down, and Independence Day are just a few of the epic action movies that writer/director Roland Emmerich has made. When he looks up at the sky, he wonders if the moon would head towards the Earth. We're pre-ordering popcorn because of the secret NASA lore about an evil extraterrestrial dedicated to wiping out mankind.
While Earthlings scramble to survive from the fast-approaching apocalypse, a former astronaut believes she has the key to unlock our survival. She'll team up with people who believe in her. One of the astronauts is Patrick Wilson. John Bradley is a conspiracy theorist. You can get what you want.

We won't promise you a great movie with this premise and cast. We think this will be fun.

Moonfall is in theaters on February 4.

4. Marry me on Feb. 11.

The high-concept rom-com is being resurrected by Jen Lopez and Owen Wilson. She's a pop star poised to marry her pop prince boyfriend before a sold-out stadium. Wilson is a single-dad who proposes by happenstance when the famous beau turns out to be a two-timer. The show must go on, so that international iconkat valdez and Charlie Gilbert can marry. It's a publicity ploy. But could it be true love?
Marry Me boasts appearances from stellar supporting players like Sarah Silverman, and John Bradley. A big year for Samwell Tarly. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Girls5eva, Dead to Me, and The Mick are just a few of the shows that have beenhelmed by Kat Coiro. This charming rom-com is an essential viewing if you want a sense of how the show could go.

Marry Me is in theaters on February 11.

5. There is a game called "Uncharted" that will be played on February 18.

After more than a decade in development hell, the game is finally going to theaters. Ruben Fleischer will direct a live-action movie about the video game series. Nathan Drake is a franchise hero and treasure hunter.
Holland's take on the character is a boyishly charming bartender not yet neck-deep in global adventuring. Mark Wahlberg is Nathan's partner. Sophia Ali plays a love interest in the games. The cast includes a mysterious villain who is connected to the ancient fortune our heroes are hunting.

The movie is in theaters on February 18.

6. The Batman is on the 4th.

DC has a lot of pictures coming this year, including The Flash, Black Adam, and the Lost Kingdom. The most anticipated of the lot is the remake from Matt Reeves. He brought fresh life to the movies Let The Right One In and The Planet of the Apes. He made his boldest splash with the found-footage adventure. What surprises might he have in store for The Batman?

We know that Robert Pattinson is the Batman. Zo Kravitz plays Catwoman, while Paul Dano plays The Riddler and Colin Farrell plays the Penguin. The cast includes heavy-hitters such as Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and John Turturro. We expect nail-biting drama that will have any hardened hero's heart quivering, as well as the stunts, spectacle, intrigue, and sex appeal teased in the trailers.

The Batman is in theaters on March 4.

7. The weight of massive talent is unbearable.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is a movie about actors playing fictionalized versions of themselves. The movie is being billed as the most Nicolas Cage movie ever.
Nicolas Cage is an A-list actor who is in debt. For $1 million, the living legend agrees to go to southern Spain for the birthday party of his biggest fan. Nic Cage finds himself in a conflict with the kind of high-octane obstacles he usually only grapples with in movies once there. Neil Patrick Harris, Tiffany Haddish, and others also appear.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is in theaters.

8. Doctor Strange is in the Multiverse of Madness.

Spider-Man: No Way Home was the best Spider-Man movie of the year. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be the follow-up to Doctor Strange in the first part of the movie, and it will tie in some of the things we saw during WandaVision. That'll mean a lot of work for Dr. Strange, Wong, and Wanda, at least based on the trailer.

Multiverse of Madness is the first of a number of exciting movies that will be released next year. We will have to look at what's new on Disney+ as Phase 4 kicks off. There's more than what's coming to theaters to theorize about the future of Earth.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is in theaters on May 6.

9. Nope on July 22.

Credit: Universal Pictures

Jordan Peele has become one of the most popular horror auteurs in Hollywood. It's no wonder scary movie lovers want to see his next project.

Outside of a poster showing a cloud floating over a village with flags coming out of it, little is known about the film. It's hard to say what that means. It will be a hell of a reveal with Peele. Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya joins forces with Peele again, alongside fellow stars Keke Palmer and Steven Yeun.

Nope is in theaters on July 22.

10. The first part of Spider-Man: Across The Spiderverse will be released on October 7.

Spider-Man: No Way Home was a celebration of our love for Peter Parkers. Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse did it with style and grace before the multiverse. Spider-Man's special powers include scaling walls and Spidey-sense, but also turning invisible and electrical shocks, and will return as a Spider-Man in 2022, voiced by Shameik Moore. He's back with his girlfriend Gwen, who is Spider-Woman from across the multiverse, after the mid-credit scene left off. They've got a new mission that brings in the voice of the Spider-Man in the first film, Oscar Isaac.

The sequel will feature the return of Jake Johnson as Peter B.Parker and will also feature the introduction of Jessica Drew. We don't know who the big bad will be. We'd follow this Spider-fam anywhere, diving off skyscrapers, free-falling across freeways, or racing down portals to neon-colored new dimensions. We'll be dropped-jawed and swinging along for the ride.

Spider-Man: Across The Spiderverse - Part One is in theaters on October 7.
