Report: Premium Delta One Lounge Coming To JFK

There have been rumors and reports of Delta opening new premium lounges for business class passengers, and it looks like we have another clue of what we could expect.

The expansion to Terminal 4 is one of the major changes happening at JFK. One thing that travelers might be particularly interested in is the fact that Delta Air Lines held an outreach event for the airport. There were reports of a new lounge.

The lounge is expected to be completed in 2023. This is located in Terminal 4. This is separate from the new Delta SkyClub that is coming to Concourse A.

Nothing has been officially confirmed by Delta. JFK isn't the only airport where this is planned. Delta is building a Delta One Lounge at Los Angeles International Airport as well as improving its passenger experience there. We don't know much about the lounge's timetable.

Delta SkyClubs are open to members, credit card holders and premium cabin travelers. Delta SkyClubs are superior to American Admirals Clubs and United Clubs because they have non-membership lounges for premium travelers.

The United Polaris Lounges are the best, though they have the strictest access requirements. American Flagship Lounges are open to more passengers. Delta would be trying to catch up with American and United.

Delta One passengers may soon have a lounge.

What should we expect from the lounge?

This is speculation, since Delta hasn't publicly confirmed plans for these lounges. What should we expect from Delta One Lounges?

I think the lounges would be open to anyone with a Delta One ticket that includes most long haul international flights, premium transcontinental flights, and select short haul international flights.
I think Delta One Lounges would feature a lot of elevated offerings, like in United Polaris Lounges, since Delta SkyClubs already have a decent food selection.
I wouldn't expect this to be all that special, at least the JFK location is expected to be massive, at 36,000 square feet, so maybe we'll just see a slightly elevated food and drink selection, and a way to add lounge capacity.

The American Flagship Lounges have buffets.

I am curious if Delta will invest in its premium soft product at these Delta One Lounges.

A la carte dining is available at the United Polaris Lounges.

The bottom line.

It has been rumored for quite a while that Delta One Lounges will be at JFK and LAX in the future. A 36,000 square foot Delta One Lounge is planned for JFK and will be finished in 2023.

Delta SkyClubs are better than American Admirals Clubs and United Clubs, so I wonder if Delta will one-up American and United on premium lounges as well.
