Pro-Trump lawyer says his plantations were go-to spots for those aiming to overturn the 2020 election

Attorney Sidney Powell looks at attorney L. Lin Wood as he speaks at a press conference.

A lawyer allied with Donald Trump hosted many conspiracy theorists looking to overturn the results of the 2020 election at his South Carolina plantations, he recently told CNBC.

Lin Wood, a conservative trial lawyer who led a failed legal challenge against the election results in Georgia, said in a lengthy interview that he hosted fellow right wing attorney Sidney Powell, former Trump national security advisor Mike Flynn, and Overstock.

Jim Penrose, who says on his profile on the professional networking site that he worked for the National Security Agency, and former Army captain and social media personality, Seth Keshel, who has spouted false information about the election, also made appearances.

Penrose was among a group of people who met with a conservative lawyer the day before the Capitol Hill riot. The House of Representatives voted to impeach Trump for inciting the riot, during which his supporters attacked Congress while they were trying to certify President Joe Biden's electoral victory. He was found not guilty in the Senate.

The memo was written by a man who thought that Vice President Mike Pence could reject Biden's Electoral College victory. He was subpoenaed by a House committee. He plans to defy the subpoena.

Wood told CNBC that Powell asked him if she and her team could use his South Carolina property to do work on the election cases after the election. The $7.9 million plantation was bought by Wood.

A federal judge referred Wood for possible disbarment after he was involved in contesting the results of the election.

Slave labor from the 1700s through the 1800s was used at Tomotley, which was a rice plantation.

The property was once worth over $10 million according to the pictures in the magazine. The magazine says that the home has five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and a 14-acre fishing pond.

A website showing dozens of lawsuits levied by Trump's campaign and his allies shows that almost all of them failed. Biden was confirmed as the victor over Trump in the election results conducted by Cyber Ninjas. The audit was partially funded by The America Project, which is led by multiple other allies of the former president.

They set up in the living room and one of the sunrooms. They looked like the center of the election. They had computers. There are whiteboards. Wood said that Powell and her team worked at his residence. The living room at Tomotley is described in Southern Living magazine as warm and spacious.

Wood said that Powell asked him to help with her election investigations at his new home.

Wood said that he made a couple of phone calls to people in Georgia who she was trying to talk to about being a lawsuit. I think we talked about what she was learning. He said that she talked to him about information about Venezuela.

Several state and federal officials, including Trump's former Attorney General Bill Barr, have said there was no widespread voter fraud during the 2020 election. The Daily Beast reported on a growing feud between himself, Flynn and Powell, and Wood decided to reveal details about election conspiracists using his property.

Wood was the lawyer for Kyle Rittenhouse, who was accused of killing two men during a protest in Wisconsin and was later acquitted.

Powell was sued for over a billion dollars by a company for making false claims, including that the business was created in Venezuela to rig elections for Hugo Chavez. Powell was part of a group of Trump loyalists who were sued by another elections company, Smartmatic, because they lied about the company being under the control of corrupt dictators from socialist countries.

Powell, Penrose, and an attorney for Flynn did not return calls. The person could not be reached.

Wood said that Powell and her team of lawyers would stay at a home of one of his friends for multiple nights and that they would often come by to work on election related issues.

The veteran attorney explained that many of Powell's fellow election conspiracists took up residence at Cotton Hall. It is a historic planation in South Carolina with over 700 acres. Rice was the primary crop in the 19th century, according to the South Carolina plantations history website. The website doesn't say if slaves were once on the property.

Cotton Hall is one of the most notable properties in the heart of lowcountry with the sweeping avenue of oaks leading up to the Georgian style 10,000 square foot main house.

Cotton Hall's main house is a wedding venue and bed and breakfast, but it was not turned into an inn when Flynn, Byrne and others stayed there, according to Wood.

I closed Cotton Hall when they came. It was not a bed and breakfast at that time. Wood said in a follow up text message that he thought they were working on election illegality and fraud.

Wood says that Flynn arrived at Tomotley with Byrne days after Powell arrived. Flynn lived at Cotton Hall through Thanksgiving.

Wood said that Flynn carved the turkey when they ate at Cotton Hall.

Flynn has made false claims about the election. Flynn was pardoned by Trump at the end of his term after he admitted to lying to the FBI. He was subpoenaed by the House committee.

Wood is seen in some videos holding small rallies. Wood lost his bid to chair the South Carolina Republican Party.

Wood spoke to a crowd at Cotton Hall and compared Covid-19 safety measures to satanic rituals. Wood is taking aim at the election results.

When they do satanic rituals, they have to stand six feet apart, and they have to wear a mask. Sound familiar? You can check the record. He told the crowd to do their research. You have to fix 2020. We are going to fix it. They are going to fix it in Arizona. They are going to fix it in Michigan. They are going to fix it in Wisconsin. They are going to fix it in South Carolina. They cheated all over the country. They tried to steal the election from us.
