Dubai Duty Free reflects on recovery in 2021 as it targets US$960 million in sales - The Moodie Davitt Report

The United Arab Emirates. In spite of the challenges of COVID-19, the retail estate of the Duty Free has not changed, and the marketing activities have not. The business is on track to reach around US$960 million in sales in 2021, according to the company.

As the year draws to a close, the sales forecast of the Duty Free has been updated to US$960 million, an increase of US$700 million from the previous year.

January.

The 26th running of the Dubai Shopping Festival was supported by the 16th year in a row by Dubai Duty Free.
The Omega Dubai Desert Classic was won by British player PaulCasey, who has won 15 European Tour titles since 2001.

February.

Leading authors attended the 13th Emirates Airline International Festival of Literature.
The prize pot for the 29th Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships was US$ 3.6 million and was held behind closed doors. Two-time Grand Slam winner and former World No.1 Garbie Muguruza won the women's week, while wild card entrant Aslan Karatsev won his first title on the men's side.

The connections of Hurricane Lane won the Irish Derby in June with the trophy presented by the VP of Marketing of the Duty Free.

As part of its celebration of World Environment Day, the Dubai Duty Free launched a significant environmental initiative.
Mick Cairns won the 27th annual Dubai Duty Free Golf Cup at the Fire Course of Jumeirah Golf Estates.
At the virtual award ceremony for the DFNI-Frontier Asia Pacific Awards, the category of exceptional achievement by an airport retailer in the Middle East was won by Dubai Duty Free. The award marked the 20th win for the retailer in this category.
The return of spectators to sports in Ireland was marked by the 15th running of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby on June 26. William Buick was the winner of the event.

Colm McLoughlin, the Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of the Duty Free, was named one of the top retail leaders in the Middle East and North Africa by retail intelligence media brand Images Retail ME. He is pictured with the Chairman of the Duty Free.

The 100 Images Retail ME ICONS was held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in the United Arab Emirates.
The Ladies Team won the third time in the history of the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup, the world's premier international jockeys' competition.
Colm McLoughlin was one of the recipients of the AsiaOne COVID-19 Commitment Award.

An official store for the 2020 Olympics opened at the airport as an airport retail partner.
Wings of War won the main event at the two-day flat racing festival at the end of the racing season.
The global edition of the TR Business Travel Retail Awards named the airports as the best in the world.

October.

The Christian Dior boutique in Concourse B was one of the signature openings of the year.

The Irish Village is part of the Duty Free Leisure division.
Under the Absher Initiative, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a company to offer exclusive benefits to nationals of the country.
Network International and MIR have an exclusive agreement with the Duty Free of the city of Dubai.

The Gala Dinner was held at Atlantis, The Palm and was co-sponsored by Dubai Duty Free.
The Race to Dubai took place at the Jumeirah Golf Estates and was won by Collin Morikawa.
The annual MEADFA Conference was held at the Jumeirah Creekside Hotel in the United Arab Emirates and was hosted by the Duty Free.
Colm McLoughlin received a lifetime achievement award at the Gulf Business Awards.
The 28th Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup was won by MMI's Marius Fouché, with over 80 overseas and local representatives from the global duty free industry.

MMI Managing Director International, Travel Retail and Fine Wine Marius Fouché won the Duty Free Golf World Cup. He is in the middle of a group of people, including the Irish golf pro Des Smyth, the Executive Vice President of Corporate Services, and the Senior Vice President of Marketing.

December.

The first Louis Vuitton boutique opened in December in partnership with the retailer, as it continued to elevate its luxury offer.
