Ben Chilwell: Chelsea left-back 'positive' after successful operation on knee injury

Ben Chilwell says he is feeling better after having successful surgery on his knee.

The 25-year-old has been out since November 23, when he was forced off with a knee problem in the second half of the Blues' win over Juventus.

The England international could be out for the rest of the season but has been given a boost by his surgery.

"Just wanted to let everyone know that the operation yesterday was a success," he wrote.

Hello guys. Yesterday's operation was a success, I wanted to let everyone know. I feel very positive and motivated to get back on the pitch with my boys and help this great club win more trophies. Thank you for the support and nice messages.

Marcos Alonso has been filling in for Chilwell at left-back, but Thomas Tuchel is still short of cover.

The boss could recall either Ian Maatsen or Emerson Palmieri from their loan spells, while Lucas Digne has been linked with a January move to Stamford Bridge.
