The foldables haven't flopped, that's what SAMSUNG wants you to know. The company said in a recent post that it sold four times more foldable devices in the next two years. The arrival of the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, which were praised in our own reviews as a step toward mainstream user experience, is believed to be the reason for this success. In the first month, sales of the two devices exceeded total sales of the foldable devices.

These are promising metrics for the slow ascension of foldable phones, though you should be aware that SAMSUNG isn't sharing hard sales data. Third-party analysts had predicted that total shipments from all manufacturers for foldable devices would hit 9 million in 2021, but it pointed out that its increases were greater than that.

We can guess that its sales were in the high single-digit millions, or even the low tens of millions, if the figure is useful enough to cite. The foldable market is expected to increase tenfold by the year 2023, with rival manufacturers like Oppo and Huawei joining the fold. A foldable iPhone would really boost the segment.

The decision to push forward early with foldable devices has paid off in terms of converting customers. The increase in consumers who switched from the Note 20 to the Z Flip 3 was 150 percent. It's important to offer something unique in order to get new money.
