Many people within the football community have donated to theParker's Fund, which was created to help the son of a former Bears reporter.

The owners of the Washington Football Team and the Indianapolis Colts have each donated $25,000 in support of the father of a player who died of colon cancer.

The Bears donated $25,000 on Wednesday.

Jeffrey Lurie is the owner of the Philadelphia Eagles. The Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks each received $2,500 contributions from Fox reporter Jay Glazer.

Two years earlier, Jeff's wife, Caitlin, died after undergoing treatment for melanoma.

Dickerson's sister-in-law, Jen Etling Hobin, started a fund to use the funds.

Many people want to know how they can support him. This fund was set up to do that. Every dollar raised will support his education, health and welfare. Sandy & George, Grandma Patty, aunts, uncles and cousins are some of the fans that will surround Parker. We hope this fund becomes a lasting tribute to a loving father, son, a great brother-in-law, uncle, professional, coach, colleague and friend.

An anonymous donor has pledged to match $60,000 worth of donations to the V Foundation for Cancer Research.

At 9:10 p.m. On Wednesday, a total of $608,043 had been raised, shattering the initial $100,000 goal. Over 9,400 donations have been sent to the fundraiser.
