We all spent a lot of time looking at apps in 2021. The data tells us which apps were the most popular over the past year.
There aren't many surprises to be found in the annual app download rankings released by Apptopia. The apps that people talk about the most are also the ones that people download the most. There are different lists for downloads in the United States and worldwide.
This data includes both downloads of the two mobile operating systems. Here are the most popular apps in the world.
TikTok is a song.
It is on the social media site,Instagram.
Facebook.
It's a messaging service.
The Telegram.
It's a social media platform.
You can zoom.
Messenger.
Cap cut.
There is a service called "spotify."
There is nothing shocking on that list. TikTok is the biggest app of the year, while most of the others are mainstays. CapCut is the only one that stands out and is used by some TikTok users to cut together their videos before posting them on the app. Is CapCut's owner? ByteDance is the company that owns TikTok.
The U.S. is a little different because they are. Here is how things shook out in the states.

Cash app.

Max is on the show.
TikTok reigns supreme in the US. Cash App made it onto our top 10 because we like moving money between people. The same could be said for streaming as well. This year, Disney+ was bumped from the U.S. list to the one by HBO Max. When you look at the data by entertainment apps across the globe, it shows thatNetflix was the top performer. The most downloaded entertainment app in the U.S. was HBO Max.
The lesson here is that you cannot escape TikTok at this point no matter where you go. TikTok is most likely going to be king in a place where people download apps. It is up to you to decide if that is good or not.
