Lamar Jackson will return to practice on Wednesday as the Ravens prepare to face the Los Angeles Rams.
John Harbaugh said before Wednesday's practice that Jackson is expected to have limited participation because of his ankle injury. Jackson will be back on the field for the first time since hurting his ankle in December.
Harbaugh said Jackson's availability for Sunday's game will be dependent on how he progresses this week.
Harbaugh said he was really hopeful. I'm hoping for all of our quarterbacks, starting with Lamar. I want to see him on Sunday. I know that the fans and Lamar do. He's going to do everything he can to be there. We don't know what tomorrow is going to bring, so you can't make a promise.
The Ravens are in the middle of a four-game losing streak and are currently in the bottom half of the playoff field. The chances of Baltimore reaching the playoffs plummet to 8% if it loses to the Rams. The Ravens have a better chance of making the playoffs with a victory.
Jackson's return could provide a boost to the Ravens. Jackson has led Baltimore to the playoffs in each of his three seasons in the NFL, and is 37-12 as a starting quarterback.
"He's a special player, so getting him back is special," said Mark Andrews, a Ravens tight end.
Jackson was in the worst slump of his career before the injury. Jackson has thrown three touchdown and six picks for a 34.3 Total QBR, which is 25th in the league.
Jackson is one of the most dangerous players in the league. In his last game against the Rams, Jackson threw for five touchdown and ran for 95 yards in a 45-6 win.
"We'll be happy to see him out there," said Bradley Bozeman. That's our guy. Lamar brings a great energy to everything he does.
A source told Adam that Jackson is dealing with a bone bruise, despite the injury being described as a sprained ankle.
Harbaugh said that backup quarterback Tyler Huntley is expected to be activated off the reserve list on Thursday.
