Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network said that the Jacksonville Jaguars will interview Doug Pederson for their next head coach.
The team will meet with the former coach.
The team is looking for a new coach after firing Urban Meyer just 13 games into the season.
After five years with the Eagles, Pederson won the Super Bowl. He was fired after the campaign.
The 53-year-old reached the playoffs in three of the five years he was in Philadelphia. He has experience as a quarterbacks coach and was an offensive coach for three years with the Kansas City Chiefs.
This resume could be useful for theJaguars as they look to get the most out of their quarterback, who has struggled in his first season.
CBS Sports's La Canfora first reported that the Jaguars were interested in both Pederson and Jim Caldwell, two coaches who are known for their work with quarterbacks. Their past experience in the NFL and demeanor as players' coaches also differentiate them from Meyer.
The team is still looking for a new head coach, and has put in interview requests for several potential candidates.
The new rule allows teams with vacancies to begin interviewing candidates in the final two weeks of the season rather than wait until the season ends.
This could help the Jags get the best candidate as they try to turn things around after four straight losing seasons. The franchise has only made the playoffs one time since 2007, so it will take a lot of work to get back on track.
