Punta Gorda blues-rock kid, 11, appears today on Ellen DeGeneres Show, jams with Brad Paisley

He is an 11-year-old blues rocker who has played bars and festivals all over Southwest Florida and has even shared the stage with The Marshall Tucker Band twice.

"The Ellen DeGeneres Show" will feature a bigger stage and a bigger audience.

The episode was recorded in Los Angeles. He chatted with the host of the show and played his new song, "Born in TheGrove", as well as jamming with him to close the show.

He says it was an amazing experience.

What's next for singer Ryleigh Plank?

The teen rocker is opening for Fogerty in Florida.

How does an 11-year-old get into the blues?

He says that he has to blame his dad.

Gov't Mule and the early Rolling Stones were some of the bands that father Nate Winkler was playing. "He got me into it, and it stuck with me," says Jaxon.

"I liked the way it was set up," he says. The mix of jazz and the rock and the blues is kind of together. Dueling guitars. I like that. I love the way it sounds.

A defining moment came early on, when he saw The Allman Brothers Band with his dad and grandparents at a music festival.

He admits that he doesn't remember much about the show. It was more about the feeling.

It was like midnight. I was asleep for most of the show. The portion that I saw was very similar to fireworks. That is all I remember. Just the sounds.

Champ Jaxon is a blues-rocker.

After he arrived at the campground, Jaxon found himself playing on a ukulele. It was a musical fire that kept going and eventually led to the guitar.

I wanted to be an Allman brother. I wanted to be an Allman brother.

When he was about 6 years old, Jaxon started taking guitar lessons and eventually joined his dad at open-mic nights. He would sing a song or two while I played guitar.

He performed for his first official gig in March at Cape Coral's Big Storm Brewery, and that motivated him to practice more and play for at least an hour every day.

At the time, I think Champ knew about five or six songs.

The Marshall Tucker Band will perform at The Ranch Concert Hall & Saloon in Fort Myers in May 2021.

He knows a lot more. His musical career has gone up since then.

He has performed with the Marshall Tucker Band twice, once at an Alabama amphitheater where he sat in on lead guitar for an audience of about 6,000 people, and again in May at The Ranch Concert Hall & Saloon in Fort Lauderdale.

He and his band released their debut album in December. They are playing on a cruise ship this summer. They are getting some national exposure on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show".

He is glad the show producers found out about him. They flew to Los Angeles and filmed the episode the next day in front of an audience.

It was crazy, says Jaxon. I was a little nervous in the green room while I was waiting to leave. I knew if I messed it up we could redo it. I did not want to have to do that.

Champ Jaxon is a singer and guitarist.

He says that the two segments don't happen until the end of the show. He plays a new song in the first segment. He chats with Paisley and they play guitar together. The show was jammed out.

His dad was very proud. His son's guitar licks are not the only reason.

It's also because of the work ethic of Jaxon.

"We hear words like 'prodigy' all the time, and that's great." The kid is dedicated and he practices every day.

He loves it. Wakes up playing guitar and falls asleep. We are proud of all the behind-the-scenes stuff. People think he was born with a guitar, but the secret is practice.

Champ Jaxon has a website where you can learn more about his music.
