John Terry was Dean Smith's assistant.

John Terry will return to the club in a coaching role.

The ex-England defender will work with players and coaching staff in a part-time capacity from early January.

During his 19-year playing career, Terry won 15 major honours, the last being as an assistant manager at Villa.

He said on social media that he was coming home.

Flexibility is important for both myself and the academy as it allows me to continue and develop my own coaching skills and ambitions.

Terry scored 67 goals in 717 appearances for the Blues and earned 78 England caps after coming through the academy.

He left Villa in July of 2021 to become Dean Smith's assistant, but returned in October of the following year to finish his playing career.

Neil Bath said that they can't wait for him to start.

He will be a great asset to our coaching staff.

John's experience in the game, both as a world-class player and more recently as an assistant coach, will be an asset to everyone in the building.
