The statement said that Hoburg will be the pilot and that two mission specialists will be assigned to the station at a future date.

Crew 6 will be the first long-duration visit to the space station by a veteran of NASA's space shuttle fleet. He previously served as a submarine officer and conducted seven spacewalks.

Hoburg was selected for the first time in the year of 2017: He was an assistant professor at MIT who focused on engineering systems. He is one of 18 astronauts who will be chosen by NASA to be part of the Artemis 3 mission to return humans to the surface of the moon.
