Musk seems to agree with many that Nick Szabo is the creator of digital currency.

"You can look at the evolution of ideas before the launch of bitcoin and see who wrote about those ideas," Musk told artificial-intelligence researcher, when asked what he thinks about Nakamoto's real identity.

The billionaire doesn't know who created the world's leading currency, but he does know that Szabo's theories are fundamental to the creation of it.

He said that it seems as though Nick Szabo is responsible for the evolution of those ideas. I'm not sure if he's saying that he's not the person known as Nakamoto. He seems to be the one who is responsible for the ideas behind the digital currency.

In October of 2008 the first proposal for a new form of payment was made by a man named Satoshi Nakamoto.
A team of linguistic researchers studied the writings of Szabo and 10 other potential creators of the digital currency. The results were clear.
The number of linguistic similarities between Szabo's writing and the bitcoin whitepaper is amazing, according to the researchers.

A New York Times report states that Szabo is responsible for the invention of bitcoin. He has spoken about the history of the digital asset, but he has denied that he is the inventor. His creation of the "bit gold"cryptocurrencies in 1998 is one of the reasons he's linked to bitcoin.

Musk doesn't think there's much significance behind the creator of the digital currency. What is a name? It's an idea attached to a name. What does it mean?

He quoted William Shakespeare, who said a rose by any other name would smell sweet.
