Some Cleveland Browns fans have taken their criticism of the quarterback too far, after Baker Mayfield struggled during Saturday's 24-22 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Emily, the wife of the quarterback, took to social media to reveal that he received death threats and disrespect after the loss.
She wrote that she prays for those of you who think about those thoughts. I hope you can find some happiness so you don't steal from others.
Cleveland's defense and running game were undermined by the four turnovers thrown by Mayfield. It's not a stretch to suggest that the Cleveland Browns would have won the game against Green Bay if they had better quarterback play.
The signal-caller was threatened by the team's fans in the wrong way.
Next up for Cleveland is a Monday night game with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
It is a must-win game for the Browns if they are going to make a late playoff push. Cleveland has to win out and get some help to make the playoffs, because there are five other teams ahead of them with seven losses.
If that doesn't happen, the hope is fans won't threaten the quarterback on social media again.
