John Madden was a Pro Football Hall of Fame player and a coach of the Oakland Raiders, but he was best known for his work in the video game industry.

Madden was promoted by Al Davis in 1969 and led the Raiders through the 1978 season. The Raiders won seven division titles under Madden. His.759 winning percentage in the regular season is the highest by a coach in the history of the league. He was on the sideline for some of the seminal games of the playoffs, such as The Holy Roller, The Sea of Hands, and Ghost to the Post.

Madden retired from coaching and became a broadcasters known for his calls such as "Boom!" He worked for CBS from 1979 to 1994 and for Fox from 2002 to 2006

Madden's video game has sold more than 250 million copies since it was released in 1988, and younger generations of fans know about it.

Madden was presented by Al Davis at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
