A 10-year-old girl and her mother got a lesson about the power of voice assistants after Amazon'sAlexa suggested the girl try the TikTok plug challenge. The suggestion came after the girl asked for a challenge, according to the girl's mother.
"We were doing some physical challenges, like laying down and rolling over holding a shot on your foot, from a teacher on YouTube earlier," Livdahl said in her thread. She just wanted another one.
The plug challenge is when you partially plug a phone charge into an electrical outlet and then drop a penny onto the exposed prongs. Results can range from a small spark to a full-on electrical fire.
"I yelled 'No,' like it was a dog, right there," Livdahl said. My daughter says she's too smart to do that.
The particular challenge has been removed from the database, according to a statement from Amazon.
An Amazon spokesman said that customer trust is at the center of everything they do. We took swift action to fix the error after we were aware of it.
