The Indianapolis Colts have placed quarterback Carson Wentz on the reserve list.

He has completed 62.8 percent of his passes for 25 touchdown, six interceptions and seven yards per attempt. He's in his first season with the Colts after five years with the Philadelphia Eagles, who traded him to Indianapolis in March.

Despite injuries, he has started every game this season. He had surgery on his foot. According to Mike Wells, Frank Reich and the coaching staff gave some background on the ailment.

"Reich said it was an old injury from high school and that a broken bone came loose in Wentz's foot." Marcus Brady said that when he rolled out and planted to throw late in Thursday's practice, he felt a twinge in his foot.

The Colts met with multiple doctors to find out what the best recovery process was. The parties agreed that surgery was the best way to remove the bone from the fifth metatarsal of the foot.

The Colts lost their season opener against the Seattle Seahawks 28-16.

The quarterback was injured in the team's 27-24 loss to the Los Angeles Rams the following week.

Rams defensive tackle Donald rolled on his right ankle after first suffering a left ankle injury. He was forced from the game.

With his place on the COVID list, he may not be able to play on Sunday. The Colts are fighting for the title and a playoff spot in the division, while the other teams are chasing them.

Sam Ehlinger, a freshman at the University of Texas, is behind the starter.
