Omicron Continues to Wreak Havoc on Flights, Hospitals, and Worst of All, BTS

It looks like not even your favorite boy bands are safe from Omicron.
The highly transmissible Omicron variant is the most dominant strain of the COVID-19. The holiday season resulted in an increase in travel, which resulted in a perfect storm impacting flights, hospitals, sporting events, and even K-pop megastars.
The New York Times reports that Big Hit Music said that members of the group tested positive for COVID on Saturday after a string of concerts in the US. As of August, all three members are fully protected.
After returning to South Korea, he was diagnosed with an infectious disease. On Friday, he wasn't showing any symptoms, and he continued to stay indoors.
The band was not alone in their troubles. Thousands of flights were canceled over the Christmas weekend due to a surge of COVID cases.
There were more than 1,300 flights that were canceled in the US on Sunday. The number of Christmas travelers was double from last year.

Hospitalizations have been rising as cases rise higher than last year. More than 73,000 patients are being hospitalized in the US for coronaviruses on average, according to the NYT database.
The number is still below last year's rate, but it is still disconcertingly high.
There is hope in the winter. On Sunday, the nation's top infectious disease expert said that there is a lesser degree of severity with the Omicron variant.
He said that the most at risk for the new variant are the unvaccinated.
Fauci told ABC that those are the most vulnerable when there is a virus that is so effective in getting to people.

If you haven't already gotten a vaccine, get one. If not for yourself, then at least do it for your favorite band.
Two more members of the K-pop band are positive for the coronaviruses.
