Taavet+Sten led a $13 million funding round for Ready Player Me, a startup that aims to create a new type of virtual character.
The company said that it is a "passport for the metaverse" and that it is already being used in over 1,000 games and apps.
There are various digital clothes and accessories that can be used in the game. The recent virtual fashion boom in the metaverse is aligned with Ready Player Me's partnerships with mainstream brands.
The company will use the funding it just raised to scale up its network of partners and further build out monetization tools to help game developers sell NFTs and in-game avatar customization.

The co-founder of GitHub and the head of augmented reality at Adobe were among the notable backers.

The adoption of Ready Player Me's platform has grown from 25 to 900 companies. We can make the metaverse more connected by giving peopleavatars that travel across virtual worlds.
