Variety reported that some think that the vulnerable demographic is less likely to go to the movies because older audiences prefer musicals. Spider Man: No Way Home became the first movie of the Pandemic to earn over $1 billion at the box office when it opened during the busiest time of the year. The rise in cases has caused some artists to cancel upcoming concerts. The Strokes are postponing their New Year's Eve show because of rising cases. The shows were put off on Thursday due to the rise in cases.
