Dogecoin co- creator Billy Markus said he has around 220,000 of the meme coin, which equates to about $40,000.

He said that he has nothing to do with the coin anymore.

"Another reminder: I don't speak for doge coin," he wrote. I am not involved in the project. I'm a member of the community. I hold about 220k dogs.

He replied to a comment that he will never work on the token again.

I will never do that. Working on a project like acryptocurrencies is not good as you are more likely to get treated badly by people if you do more for them. I respect the developers a lot for volunteering.

He and Jackson Palmer created dogecoin. After getting laid off, Markus sold all his coins and bought a used Honda Civic.
He broke a promise he made to himself when he announced he was buying some doge coin.

He bought dogecoin after 8 years of vow never to buy it again. Since then, I have checked the price 7 times.

On May 7th, Dogecoin peaked at an all-time high of $0.69 after Musk said it could be the future of the industry. It was trading around $0.18 as of Tuesday morning.

Musk has lent multiple endorsements for the dog-themed token, including one in February in which he said he bought some for his son. On December 14th, the billionaire said that dogecoin would be accepted byTesla for some merchandise, sending the token soaring as much as 30%.

Dogecoin has rallied 3,655% year-to-date, fueled by a lighthearted community that backs the altcoin as a form of disruption to Wall Street's established financial institutions.
