Ready Player Me, a metaverse avatar platform, raises $13M in funding

The 2nd Annual GamesBeat & Facebook Gaming Summit will be held in January of 2022. You can learn more about the event.

Wolf3D closed a round of funding for Ready Player Me. The round was led by Taavet+Sten, a firm led by the co-founder of Wise. Konvoy Venture, NordicNinja, and Tom Preston-Werner are all investors in the fundraise.

The goal of Ready Player Me is to give users a customavatar that will carry over across the entire metaverse. Players can use pictures or scratch to build theiravatar, and then use them in 900+ apps and games. The funding will be used to establish the company as the default avatar system for the metaverse.

The adoption of Ready Player Me's platform has grown from 25 to 900 companies. We can make the metaverse more connected by giving peopleavatars that travel across virtual worlds. The metaverse is a network of thousands of experiences. With the funding, we will scale our partner network further and build out monetization tools for developers to help them make money. Our goal is to become the default system.

The addition of NFT Wearables and virtual fashion for avatars is one of the company's future projects. The company has partnerships with Dior, New Balance, and Deadmau5 for the "Head5" NFT collection.
